Succinctly, HAIPA is an informational vehicle for the Haitian-American community, at least, in the intellectual property arena. It is a non-profit organization, of which the primary concern is to inform the Haitian community about patent rights, copyright, trade secrets, trademarks, and trade-names.

This year’s conference on “How the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights Can Help Stimulate the Economic Development of Haiti,” held on November 12, at the Haitian Embassy in Washington DC, was a great success!!

Haitian culture was showcased for three consecutive weeks (June 27-July 03) in the Smithsonian Folklife Festival this year. The exhibition entitled Haiti: Freedom and Creativity from the Mountain to the sea was a huge success. The exhibition presented an opportunity for more than a million and half people of all walks of life to experience the Haitian culture first hand.
